There are some beautiful pictures from today that I really wanted to share with you.
The first is “A poppy placed on a statue commemorating the fallen at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire”
The second one says “Friends and family place red poppies on the honour roll at the Remembrance Day Commemoration Service at the Australian War Memorial today.”
Today when the reminder went off my lecturer stopped in the middle of her speech, went into the office, and closed the door. My classmates and I looked around at each other and as one bowed our heads to remember.
I’m not sure who or what they were thinking of but I was thinking of my own who have not come home and the ones still fighting.
I’m looking through the photos from today and my heart hurts to see the number of veterans dwindling down. I read an article on the tube and one sentence has been echoing in my mind all day. One of the veterans in the article said “I’ve made the journey because I want it to be special, this will be my last you see.”
I wonder if they look at our generation in sadness and think they still haven’t learnt yet.
