The Bonnet is also from the Met and dated 1883. Check out that ombre ribbon!
Perhaps these would not have been worn together but I think visually they compliment each other. The ombre picks up the light brown of the cummerbund (I feel silly to ask since I study costuming but I believe cummerbund would be correct?) and the roses pattern in the fabric. I just find the whole outfit flattering and pleasing to look at :D
