“ And when she saw her she knew her for Snow-white, and could not stir from the place for anger and terror. For they had ready red-hot iron shoes, in which she had to dance until she fell down dead.”
Tomorrow is dedicated to the Villains. Give me the evil queens and the wicked beasts, a poisoned apple, and a brutal price. Who needs a hero when the damned will do?
I think I’ll start back in the very beginning. When I first saw the images of the costumes from Snow White and the Huntsman I thought to myself five quid says I know the man who did the millinery work.
Fast forward to our millinery class today! If I had actually bet against another person I would have won! We are currently working on a beaded project, I don’t think we are allowed to discuss the finer points until it actually happens) and I’ve taken a complete twist in the way I am doing mine. Without giving to much away, I want it to be beautiful but when you get up close it’s made of things that you would normally consider ugly (and some of you may even have a deadly fear of the little beasties).
I started to explain what I was working towards and to my complete surprise Sean told me that he had the same idea when creating Charlize Theron’s headdresses and crowns worn by the Evil Queen. We talked a bit more about the costumes from the movie but I won’t spoil it for you!
I will however share something I found to be amazing. Apparently it took him FIVE weeks to attach all the feather to Charlize’s cape worn in the photo above!
I just got off the phone with Björk and I had to be the one to inform her of the fate of her beloved swan dress. She absolutely broke down. Apparently they had told her it would be in the good version of Snow White, instead it got beheaded and stuck on Lily Collins’ head.
Such a sad, sad day.
But seriously when you saw that thing what did you think? Admit itttt you though Björk too.
Clever. I saw that scene and thought riiiiight like I totally don’t know where that was taken from?
I don’t think you guys will want me to review those costumes.
And this is what happens when you spend all your money on #Team Evil Queen’s costumes.
It’s slightly ill-fitting and the puffy monstrosities attached to her tunic are just major no-nos. Any fantasy world fashionista will tell you those things are so outdated.
As for the second costume. No comment.
Edit: Ohhh I get it. She falls in the water and decided to rip her dress off at the knees showing off leggings underneath? Yup no I’m still not buying it.
I can ignore the fact that Snow White stole Alice’s armour but stealing Aragorn’s shield is unforgivable!
You see that face? That is not a very happy King of Gondor right there.
Ignore my really, really, really bad youtube screencaps and soak in the beauty of those costumes.
As a costumer I’m voting for the team with the best costumes and Team Evil Queen wins that competition hands down.
I hate to sound mean but when I compare the two… I’m pretty sure the Mirror made a mistake.
Personally I think the Mirror needs to be fired and Siri needs to be hired. I’m positive that Siri could do a better job on judging who is the fairer of the two *coughTEAMEVILQUEENcough*
I’m sure the graphic people were thrilled to learn that they would once again be able to use the Alice in Wonderland stuff.
Edit: I also see what you did with the costume on Snow White. One side is all light and happy and she has a nice white glove/sleeve. The other side is dark and she has a leather gauntlet and a nice knife. I’m still #Team Evil Queen.
Please excuse me while I go quietly FREAK out over this movie in the corner.
I don’t know where to begin?
The costumes! Charlize Theron! THE EVIL QUEEN’S COSTUMES! Thor Chris Hemsworth!!! The COSTUMES!!!
I watched the trailer and if you ignore the fact that it’s basically Alice in Wonderland in a different setting (only this time it’s with a really hot evil Queen) and that Kristen Stewart can’t act to save her life it’s going to be bloody brilliant.
